James Pipkins II was named the first department-wide strength and conditioning coach in Felician athletics history in October of 2017. He first joined the Golden Falcon coaching staff in February 2016 as a multi-events assistant for the women's track & field team. In his newest role, he will be tasked with supervising the strength & conditioning programs for all 14 Felician varsity intercollegiate programs.
Pipkins is an accomplished multi-sport coach with a record of maximizing athletic performance. He is an NFPT-certified personal trainer, and is the owner of Stride Performance Athletics. He was formerly the president and head coach of the REAL Track & Field Club of the Twin Cities area of Minnesota.
Before relocating to New Jersey, Pipkins coached in all three athletic seaons at Apple Valley (Minn.) High School. He served as varsity defensive backs coach and head junior varsity coach in football, head freshman boys’ basketball coach, and head sprint coach for boys’ and girls’ track and field. In 2015, he was the varsity defensive backs coach for the football team at Harrison (N.J.) High.
Pipkins attended the University of Iowa and was a starter for the football team. He earned varsity letters from the Hawkeyes in 1987 and 1988.
Pipkins resides in West New York, N.J., with his wife, Trisha. They have a daughter, Jaryn, and a son, James III "Trey". Trey is a offensive lineman for the football team at the University of Sioux Falls. Pipkins' niece, Jazlyn Pipkins, is a member of the volleyball and track & field teams at Felician.
