SUFFERN, N.Y. – Junior center fielder Ronnie Grant (Burlington, N.J.) was 4 for 5 with three runs batted in and junior third baseman J.R. Meneses (Lake Worth, Fla.) went 3 for 5 with three runs scored and four RBI as the Felician University baseball team defeated host Nyack College, 18-6, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Tuesday night at Rockland Community College.
Felician (8-13, 3-0 CACC) outhit the Warriors, 19-12, in the contest.
Golden Falcon junior first baseman Brennan Price (Middlesex, N.J.) was on base four times, going 2 for 2 with a walk and a hit batsman. Price scored three times, and his two-run double in the top of the sixth inning was the 100th hit of his collegiate career. He is the 25th member of Felician's 100-hit club in the program's 17-year history.
Felician trailed, 2-0, after three innings. The Golden Falcons then scored 14 runs in the three middle frames, four in the fourth, and five each in the fifth and sixth. Sophomore pitcher Jason Polgano (Bronx, N.Y.) (2-0) was the beneficiary. The left-hander battled through five innings, giving up two earned runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts. Polgano was also 2 for 5 with a double as Felician's designated hitter.
Nyack senior designated hitter Phil Erwin (New Durham, N.H.) was 3 for 5. Junior Jesse Barton (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) hit a three run home run in the seventh for the Warriors (3-13, 1-2).
