Spaulding Explodes For 38 To Lead Men's Basketball Past Nyack

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Junior swingman Terrell Spaulding (Paterson, N.J./Eastside) scored a career-high 38 points, one short of the Felician University record, to lead the Golden Falcons to a 98-77 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball victory over visiting Nyack College on Tuesday night at Job Gymnasium.

Spaulding made his first 14 shots of the game, missing only a three-point attempt in the closing minutes. He finished 14 for 15 from the floor, including 7 for 8 from three-point range. The seven three-pointers ties a Felician record accomplished three times previously. Spaulding, who totaled 25 of the Golden Falcons' 56 second-half points, added seven rebounds and three steals in 31 minutes of play.

Each team saw all five starters score in double figures. Felician (4-5, 1-1 CACC) received 11 points and 11 rebounds from junior Rahsaan Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./Chelsea CTE). It was Williams' second consecutive "double-double," and helped the Golden Falcons build a 39-27 rebounding advantage. Senior Imran Ritchie (Uniondale, N.Y./Uniondale) (6-7 FG) led Nyack (1-6, 1-1) with 15 points.

The Warriors scored the game's first seven points, only to see Felician rattle off the next 11. A three-pointer by Zamir Wright (Newark, N.J./University HS) with 14:22 left in the first half broke an 11-11 tie and put the hosts ahead for the rest of the night. The Golden Falcons led by as many as 13 points in the first period, following a Gjaimeir Stanford (Wilmington, Del./Howard) three at the 7:43 mark. Nyack sliced the deficit to six before Wright beat the halftime buzzer with a lay-up to put Felician ahead, 42-34, at the break.

Ahead by six with 18:12 to play, Felician outscored the Warriors, 20-9, over the next seven minutes to move ahead, 67-50, and take full control. Later, Spaulding scored seven consecutive points as the hosts extended to an 85-61 spread at the 4:23 mark. The largest bulge came with 1:29 to play, 95-66, after a lay-up by sophomore Debon Bright (Woodland Park, N.J/DePaul Catholic).

Led by Spaulding's 9 for 10 figure, Felician shot 64.5 percent from the floor in the second half (20 for 31) to reach 51.6 percent for the night. Stanford scored 14 points, and Mansfield Warren Jr. (South Amboy, N.J./St. Mary-Elizabeth) produced 12 points and seven assists for Felician. Wright finished with 11 points and seven assists.

Devon Young and Antoine Obery share the Felician single-game record of 39 points. C.J. Mwila, Jason Romer, and Marcin Ziobrun are the other Golden Falcons to make seven three-pointers in a game.

Felician plays its final non-conference game of the season when it hosts Adelphi University on December 11 at 7 p.m.
