RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University junior Mike Secreti (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) was named an All-Academic individual for the 2015 season by the United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the USTFCCCA announced last week. Secreti and the Golden Falcon men's cross-country team also earned the 2015 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Award.
Secreti earns the individual honor for the first time in his career, and the Felician men win the team award for the first time in programhistory.
The individual All-Academic honor was awarded to those athletes who have compiled a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25 and finished among the top 30 percent of eligible runners at his or her regional championships and/or the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships. Secreti, who carries a 3.99 GPA as a psychology major, placed 35th out of 189 entrants at the D-II East Regional Championship in Hopkinton, N.H., on Nov. 8.
A total of 266 men were honored nationally in Division II. Secreti was one of just four from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). A complete list is available at www.ustfccca.org/2016/02/awards/ncaa-dii-cross-country-individual-academic-awards-2015.
104 NCAA Division II men's teams were bestowed with All-Academic Team honors by posting a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.00 or better through the Fall 2015 semester, and scoring at an NCAA D-II regional meet. Felician was one of five CACC men's programs to be honored.
Felician was also one of 93 Division II schools to have both its women's and men's programs recognized.
Felician, led by first-year head coach Rob DeCarlo Jr., amassed a cumulative GPA of 3.10. The Golden Falcons finished in 22nd place at the East Regional Championship.
