LYNDHURST, N.J. – Felician University sophomore center fielder Steph Donah (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) drove in all five of her team's runs, including a seventh-inning walk-off single, as the Golden Falcons defeated visiting Wilmington (Del.) University, 5-4, in Game 1 of the teams' Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference softball doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. Felician settled for a split on the day when Wilmington captured Game 2, 7-0.

Donah and sophomore catcher Brynne Bauman (Hazlet, N.J.) each had three hits on the day for Felician (18-19, 9-9 CACC).

Wilmington (24-15, 12-8) took an early Game 1 lead by plating three runs in the top of the second inning, taking advantage of a hit batsman, two Felician errors and a passed ball. The Golden Falcons, meanwhile, left five runners on base in the first four innings against sophomore right-hander Caitlyn Whiteside (Bermuda Dunes, Calif./Shadow Hills), who entered the day as the CACC's leader in earned-run average.

In the fifth, Felician loaded the bases for the second time, and on this occasion, Donah cashed in. With two outs, she launched a 3-and-2 pitch over the center field fence for her second grand slam home run of the season to put the Golden Falcons in front for the first time.

Wilmington tied the game in the seventh on a hit batsman, sacrifice, wild pitch, and RBI single by Rosa'Lynn Burton (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney). The Golden Falcons caught a break when a ball ticketed to get through the right side hit Burton for the second out, and Ashley Owens (Lockport, N.Y./Starpoint), who had started the game in the pitching circle and re-entered for relief in the seventh, escaped further damage.

Senior Jackie Duenas (Riverside, Calif./Arlington) singled to start the home half of the seventh, and was erased on Mia Montoya's (Cypress, Calif./John F. Kennedy) fielder's choice grounder. Montoya moved to second base when Nicole Spiegelberg (Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappan Zee) was hit by a pitch, and both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Donah then grounded a single up the middle to bring home Montoya and end the game.

The victory for Owens (11-12) was the 30th of her Felician career, tying her with Dara DeSocio for the program's all-time record. Duenas finished 2 for 4. Sophomore Jazmeen Llamas (Bakersfield, Calif./Liberty) went 3 for 4 for Wilmington.

In the nightcap, Felician fell victim to a six-hit shutout by Wilmington junior righty Danielle Bradley (Delmar, Del./Delmar). Senior third baseman Kaitlyn Slater (Harrington, Del./Woodbridge) did most of the damage on offense for the visitors, going 4 for 4 with two home runs and six RBI.

Bradley tossed 106 pitches in a complete-game effort, striking out four Golden Falcons while walking two. Bauman went 2 for 3 for Felician.
