CALDWELL, N.J. – Felician University senior forward Treanda Foster (Bronx, N.Y.) scored a career-high 15 points and added 14 rebounds and three blocked shots, but the Golden Falcons lost to host Caldwell University, 80-61, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the George R. Newman Center. The game marked the beginning of 2017-18 CACC play for both schools.

Caldwell (6-2, 1-0 CACC) is ranked No. 5 in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region media poll. The Cougars received votes in last week's national D-II coaches' poll.

Foster's previous career scoring high of 12 points came in December of her freshman season. The "double-double" was the third of collegiate career, with the other two occurring nearly two years ago.

Caldwell sophomore guard Tina Lebron (Manalapan, N.J.) sank six three-point field goals and came off the bench to top all players with 18 points. Lebron, who played 26 minutes, led four Cougar double-figure scorers.

The Golden Falcons (2-4, 0-1), who never led, fell behind, 11-0, after 5 ½ minutes of action. A Kayla Diaz (Clifton, N.J.) lay-up with 4:09 left in the first period finally broke the spell, and Felician exited the opening quarter trailing, 16-10.

After seeing its deficit move to nine on a Lebron three, Felician came all the way back to tie the score, 21-21, with 6:04 left until halftime. But a three-point play by Kristen Drogsler (Middle Village, N.Y.) at the 4:45 mark gave the hosts the lead for good, touching off a 12-0 Caldwell run (nine by Drogsler) for a 35-23 lead with 3:24 left until intermission. The Cougars carried that same 12-point advantage into halftime.

Felician came within nine points on three occasions in the second half, the final time following a Kristin Smith (Hainesport, N.J.) lay-up with 8:12 left in regulation-time. But the Cougars pulled away as time wound down, with the spread reaching 22 points in the final two minutes.

All 15 of Drogsler's points came in the first half. Caldwell registered 22 assists on 26 field goals, led by eight (plus eight points) from junior Andie Lennon (Secaucus, N.J.)

Felician freshman guard Sophia Guerrier (Waltham, Mass.) tallied 11 points, five rebounds and four steals. Smith also finished with 11 points, a season best.

Six games and more than three weeks into the season, the Golden Falcons will finally play their home opener on Tuesday, when Nyack College comes to Rutherford for a 5:30 p.m. CACC tilt.
