LYNDHURST, N.J. – Nyack College scored twice in a mid-first-half span of 39 seconds en route to a 5-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer victory over host Felician College on Wednesday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. Nyack (4-4, 4-1 CACC) entered Wednesday in third place in the 13-team CACC.
The Warriors saw five different players score a goal. Sophomore midfielder Francois Legoedec (Etreville, France) recorded three assists, taking over sole possession of the league lead with eight on the year.
After Nyack appeared to have the better of play in the match's early minutes, Felician seemed to have settled itself down as the first period approached the mid-way point. But suddenly Warrior sophomore Orlando Benites (West New York, N.J.) sent a long ball from just inside the left touchline over the top of the defense and found teammate Raul-Felipe Ferreira (London, England) in front of the far post for the finish at 21:16.
Nyack struck again before the 22nd minute expired. Legoedec sent a high ball down the right flank that hit Toni Mutschler (Frankfurt Oder, Germany) in stride, allowing the senior an open shot.
The Warriors put the game away by scoring in the 64th and 66th minutes, before Josh Scoch (Sparrow Bush, N.Y.) registered his first goal of the season with 6:16 left to play.
Legoedec led Nyack with five shots, helping the Warriors to a slight 16-14 edge in that category. Kenny Monfort (Spring Valley, N.Y.) got off four shots for Felician (2-7, 1-4), including one that hit the crossbar in the closing minutes as the Golden Falcons made a last-ditch effort to avoid the shutout.
Felician sophomore goalkeeper John Burns (Saddle Brook, N.J.) made six saves. Nyack freshman Wiktor Lasota (Warsaw, Poland) stopped four shots while posting the clean sheet.
