RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University sophomore Bionca Chambers (Bronx, N.Y./New Milford [N.J.]) was selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 3, the CACC announced on Monday. Chambers wins or shares the award for the second time this season.
Chambers was honored as part of the final set of weekly awards handed out by the CACC for the 2018-19 campaign. The league's regular season ended on Mar. 2.
Chambers, a 5-foot-7 guard, grabbed nine steals, the most by a Felician female in more than 16 years, during Saturday's home victory over Georgian Court University. During the Golden Falcons' 1-1 week, she averaged 5.0 rebounds, 5.5 steals and 1.0 blocks and helped force both Felician opponents into committing 23 turnovers.

Chambers has played in 25 games for Felician this season, starting 19. She is averaging a team-high 13.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. Her 2.68 steals per game rank second in the CACC, and her 1.08 block average is sixth. She is a 2017 graduate of New Milford High School, and relocated to her birth city of Bronx, N.Y., last summer.
Chambers shared the CACC Defensive Player of the Week award on Feb. 4. She was the conference Player of the Week on Jan. 28.
Also on Monday, Felician senior forward Kameron Stone (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) was chosen for the CACC Weekly Honor Roll. Additionally, men's basketball junior guard Zamir Wright (Newark, N.J./University HS) was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll for that sport.
Felician women's basketball (9-17, 9-10 CACC) is guided by 11th-year head coach Steve Fagan of Howell. Chambers, Stone and the Golden Falcons will play in the CACC quarterfinals on Tuesday against the University of the Sciences, the No. 4-ranked team in NCAA Division II, at 6 p.m. at Bobby Morgan Arena in Philadelphia.
