Pimentel, Smith Named To CACC All-Academic Team

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University women's basketball student-athletes Nicole Pimentel (Newark, N.J./Science Park) and Kristin Smith (Hainesport, N.J./Rancocas Valley) have been named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Winter 2018-19 All-Academic Team, the CACC announced on Friday. Smith earns the honor for the second time in her career, while Pimentel is a first-time winner.

In order to be named to the CACC All-Academic Team, recipients must have used a season of eligibility while participating in a CACC winter championship sport, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, be a second-year student-athlete at their current school, and have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher at the end of the immediate preceding term.

Pimentel, a redshirt sophomore guard, appeared in 25 games. She averaged 1.4 points and 2.1 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per game. Pimentel is a 2016 graduate of Science Park High of Newark. She carries a 3.76 GPA as a biology major.

Smith, a senior forward/center, started 26 games for the Golden Falcons. She turned in 8.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest, finishing sixth in the CACC in rebound average. She will graduate among Felician's top 10 players in career rebounds and blocked shots. Smith, a 2015 graduate of Rancocas Valley Regional of Mount Holly, owns a 3.79 GPA while majoring in psychology.

Felician has now had had 14 student-athletes earn Academic All-CACC honors this academic year.
