BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Felician University women's basketball team concluded its 2019-20 non-conference schedule with an 85-38 loss to host Lynn University on Saturday evening at the de Hoerlne Center.
Felician and Lynn were meeting for the first time. The Fighting Knights (8-4) are ranked No. 10 in the most recent NCAA Division II South Region media poll. Felician was playing for the third time in four days.
Sophomore forward Briana Boyd (Lumberton, N.J.) led the Golden Falcons with nine points in 12 minutes off the bench. Felician junior guard Tania Scott (Newark, N.J.) and freshman swing player Briana Lee (Jersey City, N.J.) netted eight points apiece.
Lynn piled up a 45-24 rebounding advantage, led by a 12-point, 18-rebound performance from senior center Sarah Baer (Perrysburg, Ohio). Fighting Knight junior forward Uloma Enyogasi (Imo, Nigeria) (9-11 FG, 3-3 3FG) totaled 21 points in 20 minutes.
Felician (1-9) fell behind, 13-1, after five minutes of action and trailed, 21-7, after one period. The Fighting Knights were ahead by as many as 23 points during the second quarter and up, 41-19, at halftime.
Lee scored the first five points of the second half, but 17 points in arrears was the best situation the visitors would see for the balance of the night. Lynn embarked upon a 17-0 run over the next five minutes, effectively putting the game away. The Fighting Knights led, 67-31, after three periods, and 78-33 at the final media timeout.
The Golden Falcons committed 28 turnovers, which Lynn converted into 28 points. Felician was also outscored, 20-8, at the foul line.
Felician is idle until Jan. 4, when it travels to Philadelphia for a 1 p.m. Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest against the Jefferson Rams.
