NYACK, N.Y. – Felician College put on goal just three of its 15 shots in a 1-0 overtime Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer loss to host Nyack College on Tuesday afternoon at Moseley Field.
Felician (1-6-2, 0-3-2 CACC) wasted a 10-save effort by sophomore goalkeeper Julia Sheridan (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.), who kept her team in the game with a clean sheet through regulation. Sheridan's save total was one shy of her career high, and several stops were from close range and/or of the leaping variety.
Nyack (4-3, 4-1) picked up the game-winning score 53 seconds into extra time. A ball was played out wide to senior defender Christy Degelman. She carried it near the left corner, then sent a hard, low cross deep into the box. The ball skipped to the awaiting foot of Warrior sophomore Cyan Jean-Baptiste, who easily finished from five yards out.
Jean-Baptiste led all players in the game with six shots, including one that clanged off the crossbar in the 40th minute. Senior forward Alysia Arcona (Hackettstown, N.J.) was the most active Golden Falcon, getting off four shots. Arcona, JoJo Pisani (Wyckoff, N.J.) and Carly Brantner (Waldwick, N.J.) put the three shots on frame for the visitors, with Nyack keeper Madeline Barbarino stopping all three to earn the shutout.
The winning goal allowed the Warriors to claim a 16-15 edge in shots for the afternoon. Felician, winless in its last seven contests, travels to Holy Family University on Saturday.
