LYNDHURST, N.J. – Felician University allowed a goal in each period and suffered a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer loss to visiting Post University on Wednesday evening at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
Sophomore midfielder Fenna Maarse (Hilversum, Netherlands/International School Hilversum) came off the bench to tally both goals for Post (2-6-1, 2-3 CACC).
Felician (1-7, 1-5) out-shot the Eagles, 9-6. Post, however, put all of their attempts on target. Maarse opened the scoring in the 27th minute when she accepted a touch pass in stride from Sabrina Adamo (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) and beat a defender down the left side to free herself for a low shot inside the right post.
Shortly after halftime, the game was halted for 33 minutes due to lightning. Fewer than two minutes after play resumed, Post struck again. A free kick by Maarse from about 30 yards away on the left took two bounces in front of the net and got past a shielded Golden Falcon goalkeeper Jamie Kazenmayer (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township).
Eagle senior keeper Cheyenne Grim (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) earned the victory with four saves. Kazenmayer stopped four shots for Felician.
The Golden Falcons are off until Oct. 2, when they travel to Orangeburg, N.Y., for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff against Dominican (N.Y.) College.
