LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Felician University women's soccer team gave a spirited effort to send off its three seniors but could not break through on the scoreboard in a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to visiting Chestnut Hill College on Saturday evening at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.

The match was the final home event on the schedule for Felician in 2019. Vice President of Administration Francine Andrea was on hand to help the Golden Falcons celebrate Senior Night. The careers of graduating seniors Joanne Arvanitakis (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst), Danielle Jenkin (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) and Katie Paz (Bethpage, N.Y./Island Trees) were honored in a pre-game ceremony.

Midfield play took up much of the game's first 10 minutes. The first shot came from Chestnut Hill sophomore Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) in the 12th minute, and it proved to be a harbinger. Jimenez's offering hit the right goalpost, but her team kept up the offensive pressure.

Moments later, Griffin sophomore Madison Taylor (Bensalem, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) laid a ball ahead for Jimenez. The fellow second-year player blasted a 20-yard shot across the 18-yard box into the upper right corner of the net. Thirteen minutes, five seconds, had gone by.

Felician junior goalkeeper Jamie Kazenmayer (Mooresville, N.C./Lacey Township [N.J.]) stopped two shots from close range in the period's final three minutes to keep the score 1-0 at halftime. The Golden Falcon offense was livelier in the second half, out-shooting CHC, 9-4, and gaining all four of its corner kicks after the break.

The closest the hosts came to scoring, however, was when freshman Eliza Zuta (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) saw her shot bound off the crossbar in the 69th minute. The rebound came to Jenkin in traffic, and she pushed a rushed attempt left of the goal.

Kazenmayer denied an active Jimenez again in the 79th minute with a leaping save. The ball hit the bar, and Kazemayer stopped another Griffin shooter on the rebound. But CHC (4-13, 2-9 CACC) secured the victory when a Marisa Murphy (Philadelphia, Pa./Hallahan Catholic) throw-in led Riley Regan (Philadelphia, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) for a shot between Kazenmayer and the left post with 4:22 left in regulation time.

Kazenmayer completed the day with seven saves. Jimenez attempted nine of the Griffins' 13 shots. CHC junior keeper Paris Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Bonner & Prendergast) earned the victory with three saves.

Felician (4-9-1, 2-8-1) concludes the 2019 campaign with a CACC tilt at Post University on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Waterbury, Conn.
