ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Freshman outside hitter Kahea Aea (Mililani, Hawaii) recorded a match-high 16 kills and eight digs to lead Felician University to a 3-1 (25-12, 21-25, 25-13, 25-11) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball victory over host Dominican (N.Y.) College on Tuesday night at the Hennessy Center.

Felician (10-16, 6-10 CACC) remained a half-game ahead of Bloomfield College for fourth place and the final playoff spot from the CACC North Division. Bloomfield (5-21, 5-10) was a 3-0 winner over Concordia (N.Y.) College on Tuesday. The Golden Falcons have three league matches remaining, while the Bears have four.

By defeating Dominican for the second time this season, Felician eliminated the Chargers (3-21, 3-13) from playoff contention. The Golden Falcons have won five of their last six matches.

The Golden Falcon defense held Dominican to a .000 attack percentage for the night. Freshman libero Sierra Gallagher (Honolulu, Hawaii) paced Felician with 22 digs and three aces. Aea added season highs of four aces and three blocks to her line. The visitors ran up a 14-6 edge in aces.

Ahead 11-10, Felician ran off nine consecutive points and 14 of the final 16 to claim Set 1. But the Chargers jumped out to Set 2 advantages of 12-5 and 17-7 on their way to evening the match.

The third set was tied, 7-7, before Felician went ahead to stay by winning five consecutive rallies. The Golden Falcons worked their lead to 19-10 before scoring six of the last seven points. Felician had eight service aces in the set.

Sophomore Katie Asbery (Mililani, Hawaii) powered two kills as part of a 5-0 Felician run to start the fourth set. Quickly, the Golden Falcons worked their way to a 17-7 bulge. Leading by that same margin, 19-9, Aea put together a block and two kills as part of a 4-0 spurt. With Felican ahead 24-10, the Chargers saved one match point before senior Paulina Calero (El Centro, Calif.) came off the bench to end the match with her only kill of the night.

Asbery finished with eight kills and junior setter Charlotte Greek (Menifee, Calif.) totaled four kills, 27 assists and six digs for Felician. Junior outside Deanna Knopf (Hauppauge, N.Y.) led Dominican with eight kills and 14 digs.

The Golden Falcons play their final non-conference match of 2018 when they travel to Bowie State University on Thursday for a 4 p.m. tilt.
