BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Freshman setter Miquela Martinez (Santa Fe, N.M.) set the Felician University women's volleyball single-season record for assists during the Golden Falcons' 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-21) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to host Concordia (N.Y.) College on Tuesday night at Meyer Athletic Center.

Martinez completed Tuesday's match with 28 assists and 14 digs. She ran her 2019 assist total to 805, making her the first Golden Falcon to ever surpass 800 in a season. Felician Hall-of-Famer Nicole Degenhardt held the previous mark of 793, set in 2007. The Golden Falcons' program began in 2004.

The "double-double" was Martinez's 16th of the year.

With Tuesday's loss, Felician's lead in the CACC North Division over idle Bloomfield College fell to two games with four remaining. The Golden Falcons (13-15, 11-4 CACC) still hold a three-game lead over third-place Caldwell University in the race to host a first-round playoff match.

Sophomore outside hitter Maddie Sloan (Caldwell, N.J.) led Felician with 11 kills and 17 digs, posting her seventh "double-double" of the campaign. Junior middle blocker Katie Asbery (Mililani, Hawaii) hit .421 with nine kills.

Concordia (7-11, 6-10) earned the victory by capturing key points late in each set. Felician clawed back from an early 8-2 Set 1 deficit to take a 21-19 lead. The Clippers drew even, but, with her team ahead, 23-22, a kill by freshman Catherine Lentsch (Elkhorn, Neb.) put the Golden Falcons on the brink of taking the early match lead. But putdowns by senior Tatienne Tugade-Sua (Kalihi, Hawaii) saved a pair of set points, and the hosts continue the run, even through a Felician timeout, to take a 26-24 win.

Similarly, the Golden Falcons transitioned a 14-13 Set 2 hole into a 22-17 advantage before never scoring again. Concordia ran off the set's final eight points, including three on kills from Madison Gardner (Oak Hills, Calif.) to lead the night, 2-0.

Set 3 was tied five times in the middle stages before a kill and two aces from Clipper freshman Lydimar Soto De Los Santos (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) keyed a 4-0 run that put her team ahead, 20-17. Felician pulled to within 22-21 but committed three consecutive attack errors to hand the set and the match to Concordia.

Gardner had an attack percentage of .394 and led all players with 15 kills. Concordia received 27 digs from junior libero Nelly Diaz (Land'O'Lakes, Fla.). The Clippers moved to within a half-game of Nyack College for fourth place in the CACC North and the division's final playoff spot.

Felician junior Melody Carbonell (Jersey City, N.J.) came off the bench to register a career-best four blocks. The Golden Falcons have lost three in a row following a school-record 10-match win streak.

Felician hosts Nyack on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Rutherford, N.J.
