RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician University women's cross-country team is listed at No. 10 in the most recent United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) Division II East Region ranking, the USTFCCCA released on Tuesday.

Felician is recognized regionally for the second week this season, having debuted at No. 9 in the Sept. 17 ranking. The Golden Falcons have never been ranked in the regional top 10 before this season. More information is available at

The Golden Falcons are coming off a third-place finish out of 29 schools at the Technology Challenge, hosted by New Jersey Institute of Technology on Oct. 5 at Branch Brook Park. Felician's five scorers averaged 19 minutes, 12 seconds, for 5,000 meters and the Golden Falcons finished first among non-Division-I institutions. Sophomore Shayla Morales (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) set the school 5K record with a time of 18:40, and freshman Ashley Linares (Passaic, N.J./Paramus Catholic) ran an 18:51, the program's best time ever by a freshman.

The Golden Falcons have just one senior – team captain Jane Burgoyne (Glen Rock, N.J./Glen Rock) – among their usual top seven runners. Morales was the 2018 CACC Rookie of the Year, and Linares and junior Jillian O'Brien (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) have also been Felician's frontrunner at meets this season.

The NCAA Division II East Region consists of the CACC, East Coast Conference and Northeast 10 Conference. There are 36 schools in the region that sponsor women's cross-country.

The USTFCCCA Regional Cross-Country Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strength with current season results in determining a rank-order of squad potential.

Felician is next in action on Saturday at the Jack St. Clair Memorial Championship. The race will be hosted by the Jefferson Rams at Belmont Plateau, the site of the 2019 East Regional Championship meet.
